Research shows that if a student applies to 9-12 graduate programs, that will increase their odds of being accepted into at least one. I took this advice when I was applying to PhD programs. In order to track all the information for the programs I applied to, I utilized an excel spreadsheet to document important information that would help me decide which institutions I wanted to apply to.
