Today we have the honor of interviewing two professional ballerinas who have toured all over Europe, attending academies and auditions. Today, their dream has come true. They dance in one of Russia's most prestigious companies: the Mikhailovsky Theatre Company in St. Petersburg. I started at age 5 in a school near my home. At 10, I went to another, more professional school in Naples, where I graduated at 15. My teacher wanted me to continue studying at an academy abroad to improve my skills. In fact, I auditioned countless times before appearing before Amanda, the director of the Basel academy. I only stayed in Basel for two years because during YAGP, the director of the Finnish National Academy offered me a contract with the junior company. Amanda decided to let me graduate from both school and dance in my second year so I could leave for Finland the following year. I did a year there, then the director changed, so I didn't get a renewal. I auditioned countless times for European companies without getting anything. Today, after much effort, here I am dancing for the Mikhailovsky Theatre Company. My name is Sara. I started at 3 years old, but obviously at first it was just fun. I only did one hour a week. Around 9 years old, I realized it was what I wanted to do with my life, so I started taking more lessons and focusing solely on dance. At 13, I auditioned for the Castelfranco Veneto Ballet, where I was accepted and studied for four years. At 16, after competing in the Prix de Lausanne, I received a scholarship to the National Ballet Academy in Amsterdam, where I studied for two years and graduated. After graduating, I received a contract with the Mariinsky Ballet, where I danced professionally for a year and a half.
