HH Heads to Nairobi for Africa‑France Summit

By Mwila Nsofu and Lufola Nkhowane President Hakainde Hichilema is tomorrow expected in Nairobi , Kenya to attend the Africa -France Partnership innovation and Growth Summit of Heads of State and Government. The Summit scheduled for May 11 and 12th 2026 will be co- hosted by Kenya's President William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron. President Hichilema will join fellow Leaders at the Summit, which seeks to elevate African voices in global decision making and deliver concrete, bankable outcomes through transformative partnerships. Foreign Affairs Minister, Mulambo Haimbe says President Hichilema will hold bilateral meetings with other Heads of State and Government, on the sidelines of the Summit. Mr Haimbe says the summit will focus on seven thematic areas central to Zambia's priorities which include Reform of the International financial architecture, Energy transition, Green Industrialisation , digital innovation, sustainable agriculture , health systems and coordinated climate action. He told ZNBC News that Zambia will highlight its journey in renewable energy, responsible mining, and digital connectivity. It will also highlight its journey in modernising agriculture and stronger health infrastructure while advocating for fairer global finance and collective climate solution. Mr Haimbe says President Hichilema's participation underscores Zambia's determination to strengthen Africa -Europe Partnerships that deliver tangible benefits, advance Africa solidarity and promote innovation, trade and investment as engines of growth . He says President Hichilema's attendance is fully aligned with Zambia's Foreign Policy priorities and provides a platform to champion Zambia's leadership in shaping Africa's future.
