Chuck E. Cheese (Paramus NJ), 4K arcade walkthrough & tour, October 2024

I recently visited a nearby Chuck E. Cheese in Paramus, New Jersey to check out what games they had, and I walked away perhaps more confused than ever. For the longest time, I had been operating under the assumption that all CECs in NJ had extremely nerfed ticket values for their redemption games, due to New Jersey state law. That's not the case here; most games -- not all, but most -- have standard ticket jackpots that you'd find at other locations in other states. Has something recently changed? Is Paramus not beholden to the same rules as, say, Union or Middletown? Or are they just kind of flying under the radar here? I'll have to visit more spots throughout the state to see what I can see. Gamewise, there were a number of games here that I typically don't see at other locations. First off, let's talk about the coin pushers. There's Deep Sea Treasure, which is not unheard of but harder to find lately. Then, aside from that, there's Marvel Avengers, which I haven't ever seen at a CEC before. Here it's only got a 250 ticket super bonus and no card redemption, but still, very surprising to see. Next up, I'm gonna mention what's in the thumbnail for this video. Pump It Up Jump!, the kid-sized version of the Korean rhythm game dance simulator. I thought these had all been unceremoniously retired, but somehow this one still lives on. It's not in good shape, half the pads don't register and the flower and star panels are swapped, but it was still fun to play regardless. Dream Raiders! What the heck? I don't see this game very frequently ANYWHERE, much less at a CEC. Very cool. Sadly, what's not here? Any animatronics. Yep, this is another one that got the remodel some time ago and now there's just a dance floor and screens. Although this might look a bit sketchy from the outside, being located in a strip mall directly underneath a Macy's Furniture Gallery, I definitely recommend checking this spot out if you're in the target audience for it (ie a parent with young kids).
