The body of Novia Rahmadhani Sihotang, 25, a student in basic military training (Latsarmil) for the Indonesian Development Driving Undergraduate Program, the Red and White Cooperative, and the Red and White Fisherman's Village (KNMP), arrived at the funeral home in Padangsidimpuan City, North Sumatra, on June 24, 2026. The deceased had reportedly left for the education and training on June 13, with the planned duration of the training and education for the next month and a half. However, fate had other plans. Ultimately, the fifth of six children passed away. The family confirmed that the deceased departed in good health. However, during the training, the family received news that the deceased was ill and experiencing shortness of breath. The family hopes that the relevant agencies will take responsibility and that the government will evaluate the military training for prospective managers of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that the government will evaluate the implementation of basic military training for prospective managers of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative. Prasetyo stated that the evaluation will be conducted across institutions to examine potential negligence and technical issues in the training. Regarding the call to temporarily halt basic military training, he emphasized that the training also includes competency development materials for prospective cooperative managers.
