Adolescente paraguaia com bebê recém-nascido é resgatada de trabalho escravo em Guarulhos (SP)

A 15-year-old Paraguayan girl was rescued from slave-like working conditions by the Military Police in Guarulhos, in Greater São Paulo. She was working as an unpaid cook in a sewing workshop, where 17 other immigrants lived in precarious conditions. The young woman had arrived in Brazil with the false promise of paid work and decent housing. The police operation revealed that both the teenager and her newborn daughter were considered missing in Paraguay. Paraguayan authorities had already issued an alert to find them. Investigations indicate that they were recruited by a network specializing in human trafficking. At the rescue site, officers found makeshift facilities with only one communal bathroom and exposed wiring.
