Leveraging Data for Policy Impact: State Work on Prescription Drug Costs - 6/25/26 (NAHDO & NASHP)

Through both targeted drug price transparency programs and all-payer claims databases (APCD), states are using data to better understand the opaque drug supply chain, consider new policy options, and implement changes to address high and growing spending on prescription drugs. This webinar will highlight recent state efforts to use data to better understand drivers of high drug costs and evaluate potential policy solutions. Speakers Annelisa Steeber, Pharmaceutical Economics Manager at the Minnesota Department of Health, will share how Minnesota is leveraging data from their Drug Price Transparency Program and APCD to increase transparency into the pricing of prescription drugs, including the development of Minnesota’s List of Drugs of Substantial Public Interest. Kirk Williamson, Director of Affordability and Pricing at the Vermont Green Mountain Care Board, will share findings from the board’s recent Medicare Maximum Fair Price (MFP) Pharmacy Analysis, which projects the potential cost savings of extending Medicare’s negotiated prices (MFPs) to everyone in Vermont.
