大蛇丸は三尾を捕獲するため、尾獣と特別なつながりを持つ少年・ユキマルを利用して三尾を操ろうとしていた。そして、水晶遁を使う忍・グレンにユキマルの護衛と計画の補佐を命じた。一方、ナルトたち木ノ葉の忍は、大蛇丸の計画を阻止するために派遣される。ナルトはユキマルと出会い、彼がただ利用されているだけの存在だと気づき、戦うことよりも彼を救うことを決意する。 ユキマルと過ごすうちに、グレンは次第に彼を大切に思うようになり、大蛇丸やカブトに疑問を抱き始める。やがて三尾が現れて暴走し、湖の周囲で大規模な戦いが始まる。カブトは任務のためならユキマルを犠牲にすることも厭わず、そのことがきっかけでグレンはユキマルを守るために大蛇丸を裏切る。その後、ナルトとグレンは三尾に飲み込まれるが、協力して脱出に成功する。最終的に大蛇丸の三尾捕獲計画は失敗し、ユキマルは自由を手に入れる。そしてナルトは再び、人の心を変える力を示した。 Orochimaru planned to capture the Three-Tails and used Yukimaru — a boy with a special ability connected to the tailed beast — as a tool to control it. After meeting Yukimaru, Naruto realized that the boy was only being exploited, so he became determined to save him instead of focusing only on fighting. As time passed, Guren genuinely began to care about Yukimaru and started doubting Orochimaru and Kabuto. When the Three-Tails appeared and went out of control, a major battle broke out around the lake where it lived. Kabuto was willing to sacrifice Yukimaru to complete the mission, which caused Guren to betray Orochimaru in order to protect the boy. Later, Naruto and Guren were swallowed by the Three-Tails, but they eventually worked together and escaped.
