A Post-Raphaelite Tapestry - interpreting Raphael's Cartoons in the 21st century
If Renaissance artist Raphael were alive today, where would he choose to have his famous tapestry designs woven? The Dovecot Weavers of Dovecot Studios in Edinburgh produced a modern interpretation of a detail from The Miraculous Draught of Fishes, one of the Raphael Cartoons, to celebrate his 500th anniversary. This is the story of how they went about it and the differences in approaches to weaving now and in Raphael's time. Film produced by Edinburgh Film Company Royal Collection Trust / © Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 2022 The Raphael Cartoons are lent to the V&A from the Royal Collection by Her Majesty The Queen.
