42. Our Old Sailboat is Going Electric (With a Tesla Battery) | Learning the Lines - DIY Sailing

In this video we visit Somniun, our old O'day 272 sailboat, and give you guys an update on what Taylor, her new owner, is doing with her. Turns out, he's gutted the boat, dropped in an electric motor, and plans on using a Tesla battery to power it. He's also applying Coppercoat antifouling to the bottom and we offered to lend a hand. Coppercoat is a permanent, epoxy-based hard antifouling that uses suspended copper in the resin to ward off growth. It supposedly lasts over 10 year, so once applied, you don't have to keep pulling your sailboat and applying new antifouling every season.
