The Painter & The Rider — Observed EP. 1 | Yumi Tsukuda

I met Yumi eight years ago when we were both riding for a team called FIT Bike Co. We traveled up and down the PCH together and lived in Long Beach for a period of time. Since then, our paths have drifted apart him living in Yokosuka, Japan, and me in Brooklyn, New York and we hadn’t seen each other in quite some time. On my most recent trip to Japan, I spent two days with him, immersing myself in his life as much as you can in such a short window. He’s a painter and a rider two things I deeply admire. Not only is he good at both, but his process, pursuits, and mindset feel refreshing and unique. This is a four-minute short, a small insight into what his days look like. I wish I could have spent more time with him, but unfortunately he got sick on our way to Tokyo, and we had to cut a day short. I hope you enjoy the first episode of Observed. New episodes each month
