This special episode of Timecode:NOLA shines a spotlight on the incredible young filmmakers of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA). Every film featured in this showcase was written, produced, shot, and edited by NOCCA students, highlighting the next generation of storytellers through narrative films, documentaries, experimental shorts, and comedies. Featured Films: Untied (Marian Gay) – A young woman with obsessive-compulsive tendencies finds an unexpected connection with someone who shares many of her quirks. Includes an interview with filmmaker Marian Gay. A Game of Pool (Ryan Leboeuf) – A sharply dressed man finds himself locked in a surreal game of pool... against himself. Paco's Story (Helen Schmehl) – A documentary examining the lasting effects of the abandoned Thompson-Hayward chemical factory on the residents of New Orleans' Gert Town through the story of Paco and his late wife. Civil Disobedience (Helen Schmehl) – Alone in a prison cell, a young man receives an unexpected and mysterious gift that changes everything. Schools of Change (Caitlyn Sullivan) – A student documentary exploring education, growth, and the power of change. The Crusade for Cheerleading (Elliot Hatheway) – A lighthearted look at the world of competitive cheerleading. Includes an interview with filmmaker Elliot Hatheway. Kill Chief Buffalo-Bill (Zac Manuel) – An imaginative narrative exploring history, identity, and myth through the eyes of a young filmmaker. Saint Joe (Alan Gordon) – A character-driven short exploring faith, humanity, and personal redemption. Party Animals (David Robinson) – A comedy following the unpredictable chaos that unfolds at a party. Beautiful (Querido Arias) – A thoughtful short exploring beauty and self-perception. Includes an interview with filmmaker Querido Arias. Dead End Guitarist (Zachary Pizzeck) – A musician struggles to find his place while pursuing his passion. Includes an interview with filmmaker Zachary Pizzeck. How to Use a Blender (Gus Miltenberger) – A humorous short that proves even the simplest instructional videos can become memorable filmmaking. Timecode was a television series dedicated to showcasing independent filmmakers, short films, documentaries, music videos, animation, and experimental work while giving creators a platform to discuss their process and projects.
