Building Off Grid House with Pallets and Trash

I’m back working on the off grid trash house, and this episode is all about building the walls with free pallets, scrap lumber, tires, road base, rebar, rocks, trash, and eventually adobe. After getting the base more solid, I started framing around the structure with pallets and figuring out where the windows, roof extension, and wall supports will go. A lot of this build is trial and error, but the goal is simple: use as much free and recycled material as possible to build a strong off grid structure that can eventually be covered with adobe and lime plaster. In this episode, I’m cutting pallets, knocking out old nails, connecting them with 2x4s and 2x6s, strengthening the walls, and trying to figure out how to secure the bottom to the tire foundation. I’m also showing more of the road base, bottles, junk mail, rocks, clay saucers, broken tiles, and the early roof-cap details that are helping shed rain away from the structure. This is not a perfect construction tutorial. It’s a real DIY off grid build using what I have, learning as I go, and slowly turning free pallets and recycled materials into a small house.
