My guest today is Frederick Lau. Freddy is a regular at Hotel Matze, having been here back in September 2020. At the beginning of our conversation, he was quite reserved—unlike what I had initially expected—and needed some time to build trust. This time, he arrived at the studio relaxed and at ease, and we immediately launched into a deep dive: I wanted to know what motivated Frederick to give up alcohol—and how that has changed his life. After all, he's currently playing a party animal in the dramedy about alcoholism, "One for the Road," a man who seems to know no limits. I wondered how much of that he might recognize from his own life. We talk about intoxication, why he sought it out, and when he misses it. But we also discuss boundaries and how Freddy, as he himself says, "is one of those people who can't say stop."
