Deploy a Static Site with GitHub Actions and DigitalOcean | Project Part 11

In this stream I worked on the deployment process for Practice Layouts and set up a GitHub Actions workflow to deploy the site to DigitalOcean. The goal was to move from a manual FTP/rsync style process into a more modern frontend workflow where an integrations branch deploys to GitHub Pages, and merging into main deploys to production. I used ChatGPT as planning and implementation partner while working through SSH keys, GitHub repository secrets, a dedicated deploy user, least-privilege permissions, rsync exclusions, branch setup, GitHub Pages, pull requests, and production deployment. We also tested the workflow by creating inner pages, pushing to the integrations branch, checking the dev site, and then merging a pull request into main to deploy production. #html #css #javascript Topics covered: Using ChatGPT for deployment planning Why DevOps matters for front-end developers Creating a dedicated deploy user on DigitalOcean Using least privilege for deployment access Creating SSH keys for GitHub Actions Adding GitHub repository secrets Writing a GitHub Actions workflow for production deploys Using rsync exclusions so only site files deploy Creating an integrations branch for GitHub Pages Testing a pull request based production deployment Planning follow-up QA, meta tags, 404 pages, and source-folder cleanup This video is for front-end developers who want to understand practical deployment workflows for HTML, CSS, and JavaScript projects.
