Starting January 1st of next year, any international transaction over 5,000 yuan—less than 1,000 dollars—will automatically come under complete scrutiny. Banks and payment platforms, including giants like Alipay and WeChat Pay, are required to record all transfer details: the sender's name, ID number, and the purpose of the transfer. While previously only large sums were subject to scrutiny, now virtually everyone will be under the microscope.
