Medical School Pathology: Pathophysiology of Acute Tubular Injury

Let's not kid(ney) ourselves: renal physiology is tough! I struggled with it as a medical student and had to do an inordinate amount of reading until I felt comfortable recording this video. But you should be comfortable with acute tubular injury (ATI) because it is a common cause of acute kidney injury (AKI) and THAT is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality, particularly in hospitalized patients. ATI often gets short shrift in the medical curriculum because there is such a fuss about glomerulonephritis (which is also quite tough! check out the Pathology Central video on Nephrotic and Nephritic syndromes) and renal tumors.
