Review: You Really Need Warner's Saint-Saëns Edition
Thirty-four CDs of magnificent music, extremely well played, much of it all but unknown. Camille Saint-Saëns may be the most underrated major composer of the entire nineteenth century. In his long life (1835-1921) his reputation devolved from youthful radical to fusty old conservative, but the truth is that (like so many successful child prodigies) his was always an individual voice. It's one that you'll definitely want to get to know better, and this set offers the perfect way to do it.
