The Roots of Rock and Roll (1895-1954)
This is an update to my previous video where I covered Rock and Roll's early history through 1959. With some more research, and a ton of help from comment suggestions, I've made a much more comprehensive look at how Rock and Roll was formed. This video hopes to explore how the genres that went on to create Rock and Roll evolved (Ragtime, Blues, Gospel, Jazz, and Country), and how over time they combined to create Rock and Roll. This video goes from the first published Ragtime song to the first Rock song to hit the top of the charts. Massive thanks to @RagtimeDorianHenry for allowing me to use his covers of "La Pas Ma La", "The Entertainer", "I Got the Blues", and "The Fives" for this video. And lastly, I have to thank you all for watching this video and I encourage you to suggest Rock songs from the 1950s for the sequel to this video. I hope to be uploading more covers of my own as well, so make sure to stay tuned for those! Update: This video was temporarily blocked worldwide, so one of the songs had to be cut, which is why there's a noticeable jump from "Minnie the Moocher" to "St. James Infirmary".
