How Hard is the BLUE DOON DH trail at Fort William?! || Is it actually worth the ride?

This video focuses on the blue trails on offer at fort william, in particular Blue Doon and the lower blue trails. This video is the second part of 3 videos coming from Fort William, with a video to conclude focused on the backcountry trails so make sure to subscribe if you haven't already and stay tuned for that! As far as trails go, Blue Doon is definitely an interesting one to say the least... maybe even slightly controversial? Opened in late 2021, Blue doon was Fort William's first gondola accessed blue trail, meandering down the mountain parallel to it's bigger brother Top Chief. When the trail first opened, it sparked a bit of controversy between riders with some loving it, while some criticised it for lack of support in some of the upper corners and its rocky surface. Over the course of the past 2 years, the trail has become subject to lots of wear and therefore has become very bumpy! It took me by surprise just how rocky this trail was and my hands were needing a break by the time I got to the bottom! Overall though, Blue doon was an amazing trail and in my opinion, if you're going to ride Top Chief then 100% make the effort to ride blue doon as it has it's own challenges - if ridden at speed it makes for great fun! We also ride the lower blue trails in this video which are accessed via an uplift trail starting at the base. These are short and fun bursts that can provide as a great warmup for the gondola accessed trails! Along with the amazing trails, more to see in the next video, Fort William was also hosting the UCI DH world champs the week after we were here so we weren't unfortunately able to ride the world cup trail, that's for next time! The facilities at Fort William are top notch too, with a bike shop, cafe, shops, bike wash facility and obviously the cable car uplift service. Make sure to stay tuned for the last video from Fort William coming next week!
