Regent Asmar Launches Eid al-Adha 1447 H Takbir Parade in Meranti, Thousands of Residents Enliven the Spread of Islam MERANTI – The Regent of the Meranti Islands Regency, H. Asmar, officially launched the Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri/2026 AD Takbir Parade on Jalan Merdeka, Selatpanjang, on Tuesday evening (May 26, 2026). The annual event was lively and packed with enthusiastic residents celebrating the night of victory for Muslims. The takbir parade was also attended by members of the Meranti Islands Regency Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), the Regional Secretary, Assistants, Expert Staff, Heads of Regional Government Organizations (OPD), religious leaders, community leaders, traditional leaders, women's leaders, and youth leaders. A total of 11 participants took part in this year's takbir parade, showcasing various creative Islamic-themed parades and decorated vehicles that captivated the crowds along the parade route. In his remarks, Regent Asmar expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the Eid al-Adha Takbir Parade, which he considered part of the propagation of Islam and a momentum to strengthen Islamic brotherhood within the community. "I welcome the implementation of the Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah Takbir Parade, which is an annual event to enliven and spread the message of Islam. This momentum should foster and strengthen Islamic brotherhood and foster camaraderie among fellow Muslims," ​​said Asmar. He emphasized that the Takbir Parade is not merely a celebratory tradition, but rather a manifestation of gratitude and joy for Muslims in welcoming Eid al-Adha. "The Takbir Parade we are holding tonight is not just a tradition or celebration, but also a propagation of Islam and a sign of joy in welcoming the holiday. However, I remind you that this activity must be carried out in an orderly, safe, and solemn manner," he said. According to Asmar, Eid al-Adha is also an important momentum to instill the values ​​of sacrifice, sincerity, and brotherhood in community life. "These values ​​are not only manifested in sacrificial worship, but must also be applied in everyday life. The solidarity and togetherness of the community tonight is the main capital in the development of the Meranti Islands Regency," he added. On this occasion, the Regent also invited the public to continue reciting takbir, tasbih and tahmid as a form of glorification of Allah SWT on the night of 10 Zulhijah 1447 Hijriah. "I would like to express my thanks and highest appreciation to all the committee members, parade participants and the people of Meranti Islands Regency who were present tonight. Let's work together to maintain security and order so that the parade can run smoothly," he concluded. Meanwhile, the committee also announced the winners of the 2026 Eid al-Adha 1447 H Takbir Parade. For the Creative Front category, first place was won by Meranti Pulau Meranti, followed by SMAN 2 Tebing Tinggi as second place and Nurul Huda Mosque in third place. Meanwhile, the Ar-Apidah Mosque won the Decorative Vehicle category, followed by the Al-Hidayah Mosque and SMAN 2 Tebing Tinggi. The takbir parade proceeded safely, orderly, and filled with the spirit of community togetherness in celebrating Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri.
