VSU 2026 The Tide Between Us

Evergreen Valley High School's Vietnamese Student Union is proud to present our 22nd annual cultural showcase, The Tide Between Us! Vietnam’s ancient rivalry between Thủy Tinh, the vengeful Lord of the Waters, and Sơn Tinh, the protective Mountain God, began when both sought the love of Princess Mỵ Nương of King Vương of Vietnam. Thủy Tinh’s rejection caused him to unleash annual floods upon Vietnam, only to be stopped by Sơn Tinh’s rising mountains. In the present day, siblings Hoa and Tuấn embody the nation’s divided beliefs: Hoa loves the sea and empathizes with Thủy Tinh, while Tuấn, a fisherman struggling to provide for his sister, resents the Water God and exploits the ocean without care. As human negligence and overfishing devastate marine life and threaten Vietnam’s food supply, Tuấn’s survival, and Hoa’s worry, will Hoa be able to change her brother’s heart, find out what’s going on with these two Gods, and determine whether they and their beloved princess can finally set aside their long feud to save the land they put in jeopardy? We’d like to start by giving a huge thanks to our advisor, Mrs. Ehrlich, for assisting VSU with show preparations and rehearsals! Another special thanks to Mr. Tran, Cô Nguyễn, Cô Nga, Mr. Pham, Ms. Lin, Ms. El Shantaly, Mr. Van Holt, and Ms. Wei for supervising our showcase today. We’d also like to thank our student lighting technicians, security, and wonderful custodians.
