This Storm Just Got STRONGER

A major forecast shift is underway, and I’m tracking a highly unusual summer storm that could develop near the Northeast coast. In this update, I break down the latest model guidance, the changing storm track, potential heavy rain, strong winds, coastal impacts, and the risk of flash flooding across parts of Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, New England, the Catskills, and the Berkshires. I’m also tracking today’s severe weather threat across North Carolina, Virginia, the Delmarva Peninsula, and the upper Southeast. Damaging winds appear to be the primary concern, but rotating storms could also produce hail and an isolated tornado. I’ll show you the future radar, instability, storm timing, and the areas with the greatest risk through the afternoon and evening. Beyond the immediate storms, I take a look at wildfire smoke spreading across the country, dangerous heat in the Southern Plains and Desert Southwest, monsoon rainfall in Arizona and Colorado, and the longer-range weather pattern. A powerful ridge could bring temperatures near 120°F in parts of the Southwest before the heat begins expanding farther east next week. In this weather update: • Severe storms in North Carolina and Virginia • Damaging wind, hail, and tornado potential • A developing Northeast coastal storm • Heavy rain and flash-flooding concerns • Strong winds and possible coastal erosion • Wildfire smoke and air-quality impacts • Dangerous Southwest heat • Monsoon storms and flooding • The latest GFS and European model guidance • The 8–14 day temperature and precipitation outlook • Space weather and the July Buck Moon I post daily weather updates covering severe storms, major forecast changes, long-range patterns, heat waves, flooding, winter weather, and tropical developments.
