Intex low salt problems

I have been spending a little too much time with my Intex salt-based pool chlorinator... As many owners will have experienced, these machines have a tendency to declare "Low salt", shut down and deliver you a swimming experience with extra green friends in your pool. I wanted to get to the bottom of this, and I am a fully qualified nerd, so here is my machine undergoing a full examination. I warn you, you'll have to be very interested in this to get to the end.
