Fender American Professional II Precision Bass V: Review, Demo, & Shield Job
#fenderprecisionbass #fenderprecisionv #fender5string #electronics #copper #stewmac This is the newest axe added to my collection! Wife Approved too! :-P Shout out to @coolstufffordorks and Wilbur the owner. Great small business to work with for your music gear needs! I bought the bass from them through Reverb and those guys are awesome to work with! Another shout out to Anthony at @EmpireMusicPgh who did a great review of this series of bass a few years ago. Much of his video sold me on getting this bass besides my wife. 😁 You can check out his review here: • Fender American Professional II Precision ... I'm very impressed with the low B string tone. I think that has a lot to do with the maple neck and the graphite rods. It moves the sonic dead spot (every instrument has one) that you would normally encounter with just the wood neck out of the play area. In comparison to my 35" scale bass the tone is actually very similar even though the feel due to the shorter scale is not as tight. 0:00 - Intro 0:48 - Features 2:10 - Electronics & Shielding 3:21 - No Shielding vs With Shielding 3:43 - Procedure for Shielding 5:28 - Vintage Hi-Mass Bridge Features 7:29 - Tapered Tuning Pegs 8:10 - Synthetic Bone Nut Incorrectly Slotted 9:25 - Audio Setup 10:17 - Playing Demo 12:00 - Outro The bass is a bit of an oddity, but the tone is very clear and punchy, as expected from any American made instrument. That being said there are some QC issues and some lack of attention to detail such as shielding of the electronics cavity to prevent buzzing and noise when you are not touching the strings. The nut was also cut incorrectly, but ever so slightly on the G string where its too close to the edge of the fingerboard. The beauty of the vintage hi mass bridge is you can compensate for these issues, to the point that I can live with it. If in the future I want to recut a new nut I could. I didn't make mention of it in the video, but the heel adjustment for the truss rod is tough to get to, even with the ball end allen wrench they give you. The space is very tight, and it is inevitable you will slightly scar the pick guard doing so unless you remove it to adjust, which is impractical. Other than what I mentioned, this bass is awesome, and you should definitely go pick one up!!
