Group members Arnold Venosa and Vito Picone came up with this by adapting the children's classic "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" into a rock song. ** The vocal harmony groups of the late 1950s and early 1960s, later known as “doo-wop groups,” were rock and roll’s most significant form of urban expression. Created and developed to its highest level by African-American youth, doo-wop was soon adopted by Italian-American teenagers living in city neighborhoods who came in contact with this musical form through radio, records, stage shows, and street performances. By fusing this African-American music with their own rich Italian-American musical and cultural heritage, the Italian-American groups were able to produce their own version of doo-wop, which was much more than mere imitation. * Italian Doo Wop *** From my own cd and vinyl collection Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for fair use for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
