In this video, I'll explain what you can do to lower your stress hormone, cortisol, when your body feels constantly on high alert: a racing mind, light sleep, waking up in the middle of the night, cravings, irritability, muscle tension, physical anxiety, or a feeling of not recovering even after sleeping. Cortisol isn't inherently bad. Your body needs it for energy, to wake up, and to respond to stress. The problem arises when your body spends too many hours activated and too little time recovering. Here, you'll learn specific tools for different situations: what to do when your body is overstimulated, how to quiet your mind before sleep, how to use the physiological sigh, the cold water immersion reflex, progressive muscle relaxation, the window of worry, the physiological shutdown of the day, natural light, movement, safe social contact, adequate food intake, and strategic caffeine use. The goal isn't to live without stress. The goal is for your body to be able to activate when it needs to and return to a state of calm afterward.
