I loved Germany, but I couldn’t stay any longer.” This sentence perhaps sums up the situation of thousands of immigrants who have decided to leave Germany in recent years. Not because of a lack of jobs, nor necessarily because of financial difficulties; but because of the tedious bureaucracy, the long administrative processes and a future that for many is becoming increasingly uncertain. A new study shows that around 260,000 immigrants have left Germany, and one in three cited German bureaucracy as one of the most important reasons for leaving. What’s even more interesting is that more than half of them said they actually wanted to stay in Germany longer. What’s happening?
