Less frequent symptoms include incontinence, characterized by sudden loss of bladder or bowel control. Sensory issues like numbness, tingling, or sensory loss in the face, arm, or leg might occur. Strange sensations, such as sudden burning or crawling sensations on the skin, can also indicate a stroke. Changes in vision, including loss of vision in one eye or loss of color vision, might occur as well. Persistent hiccups can be an intriguing yet less common symptom, often signaling a brainstem stroke (Wallenberg syndrome) accompanied by dizziness, nausea, balance issues, and sensory deficits. Coordination problems, particularly prominent in cerebellar strokes, may affect coordination more than strength. Cognitive deficits, including concentration, memory, and learning difficulties, are typically long-term effects but can arise suddenly with a new stroke. Other sudden symptoms include nausea, vomiting, fainting, seizures, or coma. Recognizing stroke symptoms promptly can significantly impact the effectiveness of treatment and recovery outcomes.
