Boeing, Lufthansa & Rolls-Royce Are Building Something Revolutionary
Boeing, Lufthansa, and Rolls-Royce have partnered on an ambitious aviation project that could reshape the future of commercial flight. Using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner as the 2026 ecoDemonstrator aircraft, the companies are testing a Next Generation Engine Inlet designed to improve fuel efficiency, reduce aircraft weight, lower aerodynamic drag, and significantly cut engine noise. The flight testing campaign in Montana will also evaluate Intelligent Operations flight paths, an advanced system that uses real-time data to optimize departures and arrivals for lower fuel consumption and reduced community noise.
