Nearly 60 rice farmers received their outstanding payments on Wednesday. This is a consequence of the takeover of the Yuvradj rice company in Nickerie. It concerns funds that were due to be paid out a few seasons ago by Ronnie Brunswijk, who can now call himself the new owner and wants to contribute to the sector through the company. He is aware of the challenges the farmers are facing.
