London Motorcycle Show 2022: Maeving

London Motorcycle Show 2022: Maeving Maeving is another motorcycle manufacturer that I wasn't familiar with, but after seeing the bikes and talking to the team on the stand, I think it's worth sharing! They are mostly ex-Triumph employees who are building electric motorcycles in the UK using Bosch hub motors around the concept of removeable batteries. One or two per bike. The bikes are an interesting combination of old and new, classic styling, almost early era motorcycles combined with the latest battery and motor technology at a price that is affordable as an alternative and green mode of city transport. The RM1 is limited to 45mph and is CBT (UK for learner legal) and has a range of 40 miles per battery. It costs just under £5000 which compared to some electric motorcycle offerings is certainly within reach of most people. If I didn't live on a road with a 60mph limit, I think I'd be walking away from the show one bike richer, but £5k poorer! One of the founders, Seb, was kind enough to talk me though the key points on the bike, and apologies that my camera stabiliser had a bit of a moment for that, otherwise it would be far smoother. I hope it's interesting, and if you're looking for your first steps into electric motorcycling, I can definitely recommend looking them up. I hope to do a test ride later in the year.
