Ansel Joseph - the Panman of Phoenix College
This video was shown on our concert on Thursday, December 16, 2021. Ansel built and tuned the pans we use at Phoenix College, and this is a short documentary of the process. We are so lucky to have had Ansel working on this project in such close proximity, and we are thrilled to be playing the instruments that he made for us and representing the culture of Trinidad & Tobago, where Ansel grew up. The Phoenix College Steel Pan Ensemble is under the direction of Wes Hawkins and meets on Tuesdays from 4:00-6:40pm at PC. You can register for the class (MUP 190) and join the fun during every Fall & Spring semester. Contact [email protected] if you have questions.
