In this fourth episode of #50YearsWithMemory, we share the testimony of Osvaldo Guíñez González, born in Santiago in 1958, who at age 15 witnessed the coup d'état in Chile from the roof of his house. His building was completely raided, including his home, where they were searching for two of his brothers. Osvaldo worked as a street vendor from 1979 to 1990 in the Estación Central neighborhood. In 1985, he was arrested by police while working on the street for an alleged assault on a police officer and was taken to the Santiago penitentiary. He was detained with political prisoners for fifteen days without any answers. This experience of repression during the dictatorship led him to politicize his discourse, and to this day, he has continued to attend demonstrations in Santiago. He currently remains a merchant in the Estación Central neighborhood and hopes that Chile will become a more just country with a strong memory. "Afterwards, they took me to the Military Prosecutor's Office, about five or six times in total. The first time was the most brutal. The prosecutor I met was very sadistic... He would grab a gun and do things right in front of me... He was shooting all the time.
