How to choose the fabric: Beginners should choose a thin fabric that passes easily through the needle (such as sheeting or shirting). We recommend patchwork pins, which are thin and just the right length. Hand-sewing thread: Sewing machine thread is often used as a substitute, but it tends to tangle when used by hand, so we recommend #50 hand-sewing thread. If you don't have the non-slip board (patchwork board) that you used to mark the fabric, place another piece of fabric underneath it on the table to prevent it from slipping when marking. In addition to patchwork needles, we also recommend #9 hand-sewing needles. It will be easier to sew if you use needles that are not too long and are slightly thinner.
