Congress Denies Rift with Amit Patkar, Loses Santa Cruz Block Chief

Amid growing speculation over internal developments within the Goa Congress, former Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar visited Congress House after a long gap, stating that his visit was strictly for official party work and to submit party-related documents. Responding to speculation of differences within the party, Goa Congress in-charge Manikrao Thakare dismissed rumours of any rift and reiterated Patkar's importance to the organisation. "Amit Patkar is our leader," Thakare said, asserting that Patkar continues to remain an integral part of the Congress. However, the party also witnessed another setback as John Nazareth resigned as President of the Santa Cruz Congress Block Committee. In his resignation, Nazareth cited growing dissatisfaction among party workers over recent leadership decisions and alleged a lack of cooperation from Block Committee members and Booth Level Agents. Despite stepping down from the post, he clarified that he would continue to serve as a "foot soldier" of the Congress Party.
