Cash for Work is one of the measures to create quick employment opportunities for the food insecure households and improving access to safe water for drinking and domestic use and access to market, public facilities and state services through building and rehabilitation of community assets in Yemen, implemented by GPFNS / 2016 - 2019 The Cash-for-Work measures are used to build and rehabilitate community assets, which makes a short-term contribution to social security in addition to the long-term results. It aims at strengthening the resilience of families and communities at risk of food and nutrition insecurity through providing cash assistance against work on building and rehabilitation of community assets, improving access to safe water for drinking and domestic use and improving access to market, public facilities and state services. To carry out the measures, the following steps are taken: 1. Conduct a need assessment to identify the most prioritized assets/ measures in consultation with the target communities. 2. Establish a Community-based Development Committee (CDC), to facilitate activities implementation and take over assets management and maintenance after project completion. 3. Conduct a technical and financial study to build or rehabilitate the selected community assets. 4. Deliver tools and safety materials to target people to perform the required works. 5. Construct or rehabilitate the identified asset. Assets should significantly contribute in improving food security situation in the community such as water structures, rehabilitation of sanitation system and rehabilitation of rural road. 6. Deliver cash to beneficiaries via a contracted money transfer agent for a period of 3 months. 7. Integrate awareness-raising in the areas of hygiene and nutrition for target population and their families in cooperation with existing health center in the community.
