Mahipar Pass is a steep, twisting mountain road 30 kilometers east of Kabul. Built in 1960 by German cooperation, this beautiful but scary route is known as one of the world's most dangerous roads because of its sharp turns and deep cliff drops. It is the main highway connecting Kabul to Jalalabad, Laghman, Kunar, and Pakistan. The Naghlu Dam is a 110-meter-tall gravity dam on the Kabul River in Surobi District. Constructed by the Soviet Union between 1960, and early 1967, it generates 100 Megawatts (MW) of electricity, serving as a critical power source for Kabul Province and surrounding regions Jalalabad is a strategically vital city in eastern Afghanistan that has served as a critical commercial, cultural, and military crossroads for over two millennia.
