ABANDONED HOSPITAL - Halifax County Rehab Centre (prev. Trailer Park Boys set)

Halifax Regional Rehabilitation Centre, a former psychiatric hospital in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, operated from 1941 until Spring of 2002. After closing, the grounds were used for film and television, including Shattered City, and A Hole in One. Trailer Park Boys Productions, built their own trailer park set around the buildings and used the exterior of the hospital as a jail yard. They filmed here from 2004 until 2007. Parts of Hobo with a Shotgun were filmed here in 2010. After a couple of kids set the chapel (which looked more like a gym/stage) on fire, the municipality began demolition of the hospital in 2011. It's currently unused, but plans are to make the site an extension of the Cole Harbour Heritage Trails Park across the road, where the Halifax County Poor Farm used to stand. I first visited in 2004, but this footage was shot on a old Mini DV camcorder from 2009-2010. My goal was to document the hospital before it was gone, and footage is put together loosely.
