Lillian’s Story – Surviving Stage 2 Anal Cancer and Raising HPV Awareness | Memorial Sloan Kettering

When Lillian Kreppel was diagnosed with stage 2 anal cancer caused by HPV, she turned to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for care. With the help of her doctor, radiation oncologist Paul Romesser, MD, Lillian went through chemoradiation treatment — without needing surgery — which helped her recover while maintaining her quality of life. Now cancer-free, Lillian is using her experience to raise awareness about anal cancer and the importance of HPV vaccination. In this video, Lillian and Dr. Romesser talk about how she first noticed symptoms like itching and bleeding, what treatment was like, and how she’s turned her journey into a mission to help others.
