What is Vaginismus?
Vaginismus is defined as the inability to tolerate anything penetrating the vagina. In this video, pelvic floor physiotherapist Danielle van Andel discusses vaginismus, its causes, treatment options and where to look for further, reliable information. Speaker Bio: Danielle van Andel is a Registered Physiotherapist in Ontario who works exclusively in Pelvic Floor Health. She treats a variety of issues such as bladder problems, pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic and sexual pain. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics at the University of Guelph, followed by a Master’s of Science in Physiotherapy at McMaster University. Danielle has a passion for teaching, and has been involved in the clinical education of McMaster Midwifery students since 2014. She has also provided many education sessions on pelvic floor health to women and their doctors, nurses and midwives. She is currently involved in a research project on education sessions on pelvic floor health postpartum.
