We talked with Mahir Ünsal Eriş, one of the powerful voices of contemporary literature, about his monumental work, "Mehmet Nüvit Bey's Dictionary of Wonders," which he completed in 5.5 years and which he described as "the most extraordinary writing experience I've ever had." The novel, set in the 1890s, tells the story of Anatolia's forgotten cultural mosaic, but our conversation wasn't limited to literature. He also shared his struggles in London, the feeling of helplessness he experienced while explaining his problems to the doctor, and the psychological burdens of being an expatriate.
