Abzocke in Behindertenwerkstätten? Ex-Angestellte fordern den Mindestlohn | reporter
💸 Just €1.35 an hour – that's how little Lukas Krämer (27) from the YouTube channel @SakulTalks earned in a workshop for people with disabilities. He no longer works there, but he's fighting against what he sees as an unfair system. He's not afraid of resistance or opponents. Under the hashtag #stelltunsEin (Stand Up For Us), Lukas is demanding a minimum wage for all workshop employees and that they receive the same rights as regular employees. At Lukas's old workshop, the DRK Social Services Bernkastel-Wittlich, there are various areas of activity: assembly/packaging, metalwork/painting, viticulture, gardening and landscaping, horse boarding, and more. Most people work there 6.5 hours a day, 5 days a week. http://drk-sozialwerk.de/angebote/arb... ☝️ These facilities are not actually intended as permanent workplaces and are a voluntary service for people with disabilities. They serve vocational rehabilitation and are meant to prepare people with disabilities for the general labor market. However, according to the Job Inclusive initiative, only about 1 percent of employees from these workshops manage to transition to the open labor market. https://jobinklusive.org 💶 According to statistics from the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the monthly wage of a workshop employee in 2019 was approximately €207. In addition, there are various social benefits from the state, such as basic income support or disability pensions. Nevertheless, most people are left with little money to live on. The Federal Association of Workshops for People with Disabilities (BAG WfbM) does not believe a minimum wage is the right approach. https://www.bagwfbm.de 📝 The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has been in force since 2008. The Federal Republic of Germany signed the Convention 12 years ago, thereby confirming its legal validity. Article 27 addresses the work and employment of people with disabilities. It states that people with disabilities have the same right to freely chosen employment as everyone else, and that the labor market must be open and inclusive. The existing concept of sheltered workshops contradicts this principle, hence the recommendation: sheltered workshops for people with disabilities should be abolished. https://www.behindertenbeauftragte.de... https://www.behindertenrechtskonventi... 👉 Important Links (further information on the topic) https://www.behindertenbeauftragter.d... https://www.bmas.de/DE/Soziales/Teilh... 🎞 Team: Anna van Doorn, Julian Guttzeit, Volker Rosendahl, Andreas Josef, Julia von Cube 👉 You can also find us here: Twitter: / reporter Facebook: / reporter.offiziell Instagram: / reporter.offiziell Snapchat: / 3246991136 👉 #reporter is part of #funk: YouTube: / funkofficial Instagram: / funk TikTok: / funk Website: https://go.funk.net Experience real stories with us.
