Friends, the places you're seeing aren't the Swiss Alps; these are the Munzur Mountains, a mountain range of approximately 3,000 meters, as seen from Tunceli's Pülümür district... We visited the villages of Mezra, Kovuklu (Hişiye), Çakırkaya (Pancıras), Boğalı (Zimek), Kocatepe (Askirek), and Sarıgül (Mazra Koy) in the Pülümür district of Tunceli (Dersim). Along the way, we took photos of the Dersim Mountains, the Munzur Mountains, and Meydan Mountain. The Munzur Mountains, or Mercan Mountains, are located in the Upper Euphrates region, west of the Eastern Anatolia Region. They are an extension of the Taurus Mountains and are a calcareous, jagged massif. They stretch 130 km west to east across the plateau between Tunceli and Erzincan, reaching an altitude of over 3,300 meters and dating back 5 million years. It is home to glacial lakes, oak forests, a variety of wild animals, numerous plant and flower species, rivers, streams, plateaus, and trout lakes. The highest point is Akbaba Hill at 3,463 meters. Its peaks include Biçare Mountain, Ziyarettepe, Kutlular, Gültepe, Haramitepe, Kuştepe, and Gediktepe. The Munzur valleys descend south to Ovacık and merge with the Pülümür Valley. The Munzur River merges with the Murad River to form waterfalls. Munzur Valley National Park is a 42,000-hectare natural park established in 1971. The surrounding districts are Çemişgezek and Ovacık in the south, Kemaliye in the west, Pülümür in the east, and Kemah in the north. Among the climbing passes, the Munzur and Kemah passes are important. Village roads surround the villages of Sabırlı, Subaşı, Yeşilyayla, Cevizlik, Yeşilyazı, Paşadüzü, and Kurutepe, as well as the Kılıçkaya, Yaylabaşı, Çubuklu, Çakırlar, Dereköy, Kapıkaya, and Doğanköy mountain ranges to the south and the Munzur mountain range to the north.
