Imagine Dragons is an American pop rock band from Las Vegas, formed in 2008. The band consists of Dan Reynolds (vocals), Wayne Sermon (guitarist), Daniel Platzman (drummer) and Ben McKee (bassist). The band's manager is Mac Reynolds, the older brother of singer Dan Reynolds. The first album Night Visions was released in 2012. The band scored worldwide hits with songs such as On top of the world (2013), Demons (2013), Believer (2017), Thunder (2017), Whatever it takes (2017), Natural (2018) and Bad Liar (2018). In 2008, singer Dan Reynolds and drummer Andrew Tolman, then still students, met at Brigham Young University in Utah. Together with Andrew Beck, Dave Lemke and Aurora Florence, the band Imagine Dragons was founded. The name Imagine Dragons is an anagram of a phrase that is not known to date. Later in 2008 the EP Speak to Me was released. Beck and Florence left the band and were replaced by Tolman's wife Brittany Tolman and school friend Wayne Sermon. After Lemke's departure, bassist Ben McKee was added to the band. The group went to settle in Las Vegas, birthplace of Reynolds. Three more EPs were made in Las Vegas: Imagine Dragons, Hell and Silence and It's Time. The band gained fame by giving many performances in Las Vegas. In November 2011, the band signed a record deal with Interscope Records and teamed up with kygo. Andrew and Brittany Tolman left the band and Daniel Platzman became the new drummer of Imagine Dragons. This completed the formation. In 2012 two more EPs were released: Continued Silence and Hear Me. On September 4, 2012, the debut album Night Visions was released. The group worked closely with producer Alex da Kid for this album. With the singles It's time, Radioactive, Hear Me, Demons and On Top of the World, the album marked the band's worldwide breakthrough. Radioactive was used in the promotional campaign for the game Assassin's Creed III and appeared in the series The 100 and Arrow. On Top of the World was added to the soundtracks of the video games FIFA 13 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2013. After Night Visions and the accompanying world tour, the singles Battle Cry, Warriors and I Bet My Life were released in 2014. The songs were used for the movie Transformers: Age of Extinction, the League of Legends 2014 World Championship and the announcement of a new album, respectively. This album was released on February 17, 2015 under the name Smoke + Mirrors. In addition to I Bet My Life, the songs Gold and Shots were released. The Smoke + Mirrors Tour ended on February 5, 2016 in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. On February 1, 2017, the song Believer was released. This was followed by the singles Thunder, Whatever It Takes and Walking The Wire. The album Evolve was released on June 23, 2017. Compared to the previous albums, there was now more emphasis on electronic influences. On February 21, 2018, a reissue of Evolve was released with the new single Next to Me.
