Slovenia boasts some of the strangest castles in Europe. On this tour, we visit Bled Castle, Predjama Castle, and Ljubljana Castle to discover how these medieval fortresses actually functioned and the stories hidden behind their walls. On this trip through Slovenia, we'll experience this firsthand in the most extreme way. We'll move beyond the typical tourist spots to discover three fascinating fortresses that defy logic, space, and time. 🇸🇮 We begin at Bled Castle (Blejski Grad), the oldest documented fortress in the country (dating back to 1011), perched on a 130-meter cliff, where an administrator was executed in the abyss and a widow gave rise to the legend of the wishing bell in the lake. We continued on to Predjama Castle, a Guinness World Record holder perched on a 120-meter rock face, famous for the betrayal of Erazem (the local Robin Hood), who withstood a siege thanks to the hidden tunnels of the Postojna Caves until he met his end in the most bizarre way at the weakest point in its walls. Finally, we reached Ljubljana Castle, a Habsburg fortress converted into a prison by the Austro-Hungarian Empire, then a shelter for the homeless after World War I, and which today has transformed into the capital's urban meeting point, guarded by the mythical dragons.
