Clan 0.24cc model diesel engine..finally running! A new rebuild!

Mike Clanford dont make this engines him self but it was made for him by a UK based firm with the name "Precision Engineering" Its a lovely side port small diesel.The year of production was around 1992. ( Thx Adrian for your lovely site ! ) ;-D Build like the lovely Dragonfly engine range,but without the rotary valve. My friend and collector Jose send it over to me with also the Viking.We both just cant get the engine going...just it ignites,but refuse to go further... so after a closer look,I found the issue with the timing. The designer of the engine make a mistake with the intake tube as shown in the clip.The engine just cant run with it...but once solved..it runs lovely! I am not sure,if all the 500 engines have this problem,but many did.Joses engine have sr. number 0292 and my also blue head engine have 0237,so its not so far away! On Adrians website you find a lovely article about the Clan 0,24,its back ground and a lovely article from the later Ron Chernich, and a plan from the "Motorboys" exists as well,so its not a very difficult engine to make.....who is first?...of course with the correct timing! ;-D In the clip I used a Tornado 5x4 prop.Now rpm readings were taken,but it was only about to get it run again! It would be of course a lovely engine for a small free flight model!! Keep in mind,that model diesels under 1cc need at least 40% aether to make them start well. There you have it, more stuff in the making..A Chech GZ 0,10 diesel (Gustav Zaplatal)...boy oh boy,...what a job that was. and the 2 DC Rapiers from Rich .Also the interresting RGU,what I rebuild for Adrian....so stay tuned!
