Keep in mind you don't have to separate the plants, they can live together very well. Both will bloom and both will have their own root system. But if you really want 2 separate plants, here is how to go about it. First make sure the keiki has his own root system. 4-5 roots of about 10 cm or more is a decent root system for the keiki to live on his own. The connection between the baby plant and the mother plant is a pretty thin stem. This is where you need to cut. Cut bellow the root system of the keiki, you need him to have all his roots intact! Use a pair of sterilized scissors, pruners or a cutter and take your time into making a good cut, without damaging leaves or roots. I like to seal the cut wounds with powder cinnamon to prevent infections.
