Ford Taurus Problems: Common Issues To Look Out For

Ford Taurus Problems: Common Issues To Look Out For. In this video I will talk about Ford Taurus problems. Here are the common issues to look out for: Electrical problems Electrical problems are associated with a bad connection to the battery, preventing the electrical system from being powered up appropriately. Owners have reported that when driving randomly, all dashboard sensors, including the e-brake, traction, and low tire pressure go off. The radio and the AC/heater system also shut off and come back on after a short time. Malfunctioning automatic headlights are another problem that affects some Ford Taurus owners. They report manually turning on the headlights as their light sensors fail to activate parking lights. These electrical issues are associated with errors in wiring and faulty headlight modules. Drivers need to check fuses, wiring or connection and any hitches or old worn out wires should be replaced. Engine problems Owners of Ford Taurus have reported a couple of engine issues that hinder smooth driving. They claim their vehicles, especially the 2013 Ford Taurus model, stall or lose acceleration several times because of a faulty electronic throttle body. The engine overheats in the process, producing a burnt smell mainly when the driver covers long distances. Also, owners have complained about frequent engine misfires while driving at freeway speeds. Engine misfires tend to cause difficulty in starting the engine, shaking during acceleration, and rise in fuel consumption. The driver can identify which cylinder is misfiring and then disconnect the plug wire that connects to the cylinder’s spark plug. Properly examine the spark plug and if it is old replacing it will solve the problem. Transmission failure Some factors contributing to Ford Taurus transmission failure include low transmission fluid level, contaminated fluid, and worn-out transmission parts. Transmission problems in Taurus models pertain to the 6F50/6F55 transmission, which is especially prone to those failures in models from 2010 to 2015. Owners have stated that they experience jumping or grinding when accelerating and a feeling of shakiness when slowing down, which affects their driving experience. Drivers can identify transmission issues early through being keen on warning lights, delayed shifts and unusual noises from the engine. Disposing the contaminated transmission fluid and replacing it with a new one helps solve transmission failures. Also, the drivers should check transmission fluid levels as most problems, such as slipping and delayed shifts, are caused by low fluid levels.
