It’s been one year since Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote the landmark majority opinion in Obergefell v. Hodges, a long-sought victory for the gay-rights movement. In a historic ruling following a 5-4 vote, the U.S. Supreme Court deemed that marriage is a Constitutional right. “No longer may this liberty be denied,” Justice Kennedy continued. It’s recognition that many older gay couples thought they might never see during their lifetime, the legal acknowledgment that love is love.
